MARKET UPDATE 06.30.24

Greetings,

We'll pick back up where we left off from last week, with BROCCOLI. On the bright side, supply out of Salinas is improving this week, however other North American growing regions are not faring as well. Eastern US deals are behind schedule and Mexican crops have taken a beating from high temps and last week's tropical storm. It will be some time before markets cool, as demand currently exceeds supply.

Arizona's MELON crop is drying up and shippers are getting more into their fields in California this week. Quality is good, but sizing is trending to the larger counts. Smaller sized fruit is very hard to come by if at all.

Between California and Canada crops, LETTUCE and LEAF are in a surplus with many SKU's priced to move. With the high daytime temps, superficial condition issues may be present occasionally, but aside from that quality has been very strong at this point in the season.

Another product feeling the heat in Mexican growing regions is BRUSSEL SPROUTS. Much of the volume grown in N America comes from Mexican growers, and this crop has been stunted in the near drought conditions and particularly arid climate.

A great product for promotion for the next few weeks is clearly CAULIFLOWER. Product is abundant in the Salinas Valley and shippers are pushing it out the door at competitive prices. Not for lack of quality, the product we've seen lately has been stellar.

Lastly, Washington CHERRIES are rockin'! Don't forget to grab a few cases on your next order!

That's it for me, we'll continue to do our best to keep you informed.
