MARKET UPDATE DEC 01-04, 2020

Good Afternoon,

Happy Thanksgiving!

Although the year is not yet finished and the pandemic is not nearly over, hope remains. We look forward to the day that we can all put this struggle behind us and move forward. This year has had

more than its fair share of challenges, and we could not have weathered the storm without your support. Our hearts go out to all the individuals and businesses lost during this pandemic.

From the entire team here at GPS, we would like to say, thank you. Thank you for helping us survive through these tough times, and power on to better days ahead.

FLORIDA STRAWBERRIES are available! We will continue to have export label Driscoll berries, but we will also offer Florida straws that will be harvested a few days closer to shipping. Florida

Strawberry season typically lasts through March.

COLORED BELL PEPPERS are starting to get tight. RED, YELLOW, and ORANGE varieties are in light supply while harvest transitions further South. GREEN BELL peppers are starting to produce significant

numbers here in South Florida as green bell prices trend lower.

Light demand for post-holiday business has helped soften a market or two. TOMATO supplies have not improved just yet, but prices have seen some relief due to a lack of demand. We are still a few

weeks away from a strong Florida TOMATO supply.

CHERRIES are in! We have both BROOKS and RAINIER varieties flown in fresh!

BROCCOLI, CAULIFLOWER, LETTUCE, and ROMAINE have all seen a drop in price this week as demand slows for the holiday. If the weather remains favorable in Yuma, we should see prices continue to come

off.

CANTALOUPES and HONEYDEWS are arriving from GUATEMALA, just having escaped the heavy rain from Hurricanes Eta and Iota. We should have another week or two of steady supplies but will enter unknown

territory after that. Reports are unclear on how Central American crops held up to the beating of back to back storms, but chances are we will see some market volatility.

Stay safe and Happy Holidays -
