MARKET UPDATE DECEMBER 12-18, 2021

Good morning,

Starting next week, we will transition fully into PERUVIAN GRAPES. Prices will be elevated for a few weeks until supplies shift into imports exclusively. Once CHILEAN supplies arrive, we will see increased availability and lower market pricing.

FLORIDA STRAWBERRY volumes are beginning to improve. We are expecting a steady increase in supply over the next several weeks as we get closer to January. Temperatures have been cool, providing ideal growing conditions this early in the season. Historically, pricing on Florida straws will fight to stay in the mid to high $20's through December and take a significant drop in January. Current forecasts indicate a healthy start to the season.

Better supplies and lighter demand on LETTUCE and ROMAINE are helping ease market pressures. Availability is up and market pricing is heading lower.

CAULIFLOWER supplies are on a similar trend. Healthy production, thanks to favorable conditions in YUMA, is moving prices lower. BROCCOLI BUNCHES and CROWNS are slightly limited but should improve over the next two weeks.

ZUKES, CUKES, GREEN BELL PEPPER, and YELLOW SQUASH are all in good supply. Thanks to favorable conditions on the East Coast and in Mexico, we are seeing lower markets on these commodities.

ONIONS are typically very flat in cost, but we have seen a significant change in pricing over the last few weeks. This year's crop is producing small and medium yellow onions in decent numbers, but is very limited on JUMBO ONIONS, especially YELLOW JUMBOS. RED and WHITE onions are also seeing lighter production push up costs.
