MARKET UPDATE FEB 1-5, 2021

Good Afternoon,

We are seeing great supplies on BROCCOLI and CAULIFLOWER this week. These hearty vegetables favor cooler conditions and with the cold weather we have had in Yuma, supplies are taking off. BROCCOLI and CAULIFLOWER will be great items to put on ad or special for the next few weeks!

COLORED BELL PEPPER supplies continue on the lighter side this week. We are seeing some increased production, but it will take some time for the slight increase in supply to soften this market.

STRAWBERRY shortages continue this week due to rain and cool conditions in all three major growing regions, California, Mexico, and Florida. Our suppliers seem to think that better supplies are right around the corner, but it seems likely that the additional demand for Valentine's Day will keep things tight straight through the holiday. Supplies are tight but we will have enough product to run some Valentine's Day specials next week so keep an eye out for our WEEKLY FRESH!

LIME prices are heating up as supplies decline in most growing regions in Mexico. With lower yields expected for the new crop coming up, we expect to see LIME prices continue strong through February and March. Larger sizes will be more readily available. Smaller sizes (200's/230's) will be extremely tight.

GRAPES are rapidly approaching peak season. Although black grapes have been a bit tight, the quality and availability of Red Seedless and Green Seedless is excellent. The GRAPES out of Peru have been in our primary source thus far but the main volume for Chilean supplies should be right around the corner. Look for promotable pricing and quality for the next couple months.

Thank you,
