MARKET UPDATE JUNE 06-10, 2022

Good afternoon,

We are most of the way through our summer transition. CANTALOUPES and HONEYDEWS are going to be NEW CROP next week, out of CALIFORNIA. Product is in good supply to start the season and pricing is competitive. Pricing is only slightly higher than the imports due to freight, but the quality should be much stronger.

Along with west coast melons, STONE FRUITS are now exclusively domestic. PLUMS out of CALIFORNIA are available for next week to go along with domestic PEACHES, NECTARINES, and APRICOTS. Ask about our CLAMSHELL STONE FRUIT!

We are nearing the end of CALIFORNIA CHERRIES this year and the market is tightening up. Pricing will be higher for next week's CLAMSHELL fruit but we will have a deal on some BAGGED CHERRIES. Limited supplies on discount and clamshell cherries. Washington CHERRIES will start in late June, so be prepared for a gap between CA and WA fruit.

ASPARAGUS pricing is coming down! Supplies are strong here in South Florida with plenty of shippers looking to deal on volume orders. Markets will remain aggressive on ASPARAGUS for at least another two weeks.

Offshore MANDARINS are starting to finish up out of PERU and MORROCO. Domestic fruit is tight, and we are another few weeks away from South African fruit. Quality is going to be in question for the next 3-4 weeks, so please buy accordingly.

GRAPES are off to s strong start on the West Coast. California and Mexico are producing GREEN and RED grapes in solid numbers. We are running a big special on RED GRAPES for next week, so keep your eyes out for our Weekly Fresh specials. BLACK GRAPES and GLOBE GRAPES out of California are another few weeks out.

CELERY remains tight due to the supply constraints we have mentioned the last few weeks. Warmer weather is pushing BROCCOLI, LETTUCE, and LEAF supplies along, keeping markets competitive. Beware the cheap deals as they are most likely coming from a supplier with backed up inventory.

More as it happens,
