MARKET UPDATE APRIL 26-30, 2021

Good Afternoon,

The LIME market has been tight for over a month now and with Cinco de Mayo pull next week, all signs point towards an even higher spike in prices. In Martinez, Mexico, growers have seen persistent rain that is expected to continue into the weekend. The rain will slow down harvesting and packing, leading up to a holiday demand push.

The ASPARGUS market is firming up. Peruvian product is gaining more market share as Mexican supplies transition from Caborca to Obregon. The quality of the grass flown in from Peru is good, but pricing will continue to climb through Mother’s Day.

CAULIFLOWER supplies went missing this week as cool weather delayed production. Expect tighter markets for another week or two on cauliflower.

BROCCOLI supplies are still in good shape despite the cool down! California and Mexico are producing a ton of product and even Georgia is starting to show some supply. BROCCOLI and CAULIFLOWER tend to follow a similar trend so keep an eye on BROCCOLI markets over the next week.

YELLOW SQUASH and ZUCCHINI are in good supply. We are nearing the end of South Florida production, but as other growing regions in the state continue to produce in good numbers, market prices should remain in check.

WATERMELON season has started here in Florida! The market gap we saw over the past few weeks is finally over and we should be into good quality and fair prices for the near future.

FLORIDA ORANGES continue to wind down for the season. As supplies in Florida diminish, demand for fruit in California grows. We are still about a month away from NAVELS transitioning to VALENCIA ORANGES, but supplies will get tight as we move into late season crop.

CLEMENTINES out of Morocco are finished for the season. We will have new crop PERUVIAN MANDARINS next week to fill in for late season clementines.

More as it happens,
